the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

It's been my experience that when I've deleted e-mails, they aren't
there anymore either. Of course one can "turn on filtering" and then you
won't see e-mails either. So if you see (Filter applied) in the upper
right corner then you might want to turn it off in View, customize
current view.
