EAC Rollup at Summary Task Level with Physical % Complete: Calculu

W

Wim

We have 5 Tasks for Resource A, scheduled sequentially.
Each Task has 5d of Work. Resource A costs 2000 EUR per day

Baseline Schedule is then
Task1 - W1
Task2 - W2
Task3 - W3
Task4 - W4
Task5 - W5

We do follow up with Physical % Complete.

At the end of Week1,
Resource A reports for Task1
Actuals Days Worked: 4
Actual Costs: 8000 EUR
Physical % Complete: 100%
Resource A did not work on any other tasks

Hence, Estimate At Completion Indicators at task level read
EAC Task1: AC + ((BAC-EV)/CPI) = 8000 + (10000-10000)/(10000/8000)=8000 EUR
EAC Task2: No actuals. Hence EAC=BAC= 10000 EUR
EAC Task3: No actuals. Hence EAC=BAC= 10000 EUR
EAC Task4: No actuals. Hence EAC=BAC= 10000 EUR
EAC Task5: No actuals. Hence EAC=BAC= 10000 EUR

However, Estimate At Completion Indicators at summary task level read 40000
EUR.

From
http://www.thecodecage.com/forumz/project-formatting/31338-physical-complete-rollup.html
I understood that Physical%Complete is rolled up weighted by time phased
costs of the baseline.

Even with this knowledge I can not reproduce how the EAC of 40000 EUR at
summary task level was calculated.

All help welcome.
Thx in advance

check a few things. First, set teh status date. Then ,is the EV Method for
all tasks set to Physical%Complete? You can insert the EV Method column to
check.

When you claim 100% complete,also verify remaining work and remaining
duration are set to 0.

We did a bit of number crunching and found that EAC at task level is
calculated differently from EAC at task summary level / project summary
level. MSP calculated EAC figures correct, both at task level and at task
summary level / project summary level.

Base formula's:
1) %Complete X BAC = EV
==>%Complete = EV /BAC

2) AC/EAC=Actual % Complete
==>AC / Actual % Complete = EAC

EAC formula's:
3) At task summary level, the EAC is calculated as
AC / Actual % Complete = AC / (EV/BAC) = EAC

4) At individual task level, the EAC is calculated as
EAC = AC + (BAC- EV)/CPI
