Go to format menu, select "bar styles", select the bar you want to format -
usually the blue normal bar is the one you want, on the text tab at the
bottom choose the left bar position and set it to display the "Start" date.
In Project Start is almost always equal to early start unless you are
scheduling from the end of the project. You could alternatively set it to
show "early start"
