Edit Date

Running OS 10.6 on iMac and Excel 12.3.1. I am editing an Excel
document that someone else created. For a column entitled check date,
the entries are: 2001-05-15 00:00:00. I only want the date. I
select the column to format the cell and in checking in the date
category, I don't see an option for year first, which isn't a big
concern. I would like to take out the 00:00:00. I've tried selecting
in the date category mm/dd/yy format and press OK. Nothing happens in
the columns except when I double-click on a cell and it changes to mm/
dd/yy format. However with 9,000 entries, I really don't want to
individually click each cell. The only work around is to do a fiind
for 00:00:00 and replace it with nothing. It does keep the yy/mm/dd
format which I could live with. The other column however, has some
00:00:00 but other entries such at 15:42:00 so once again, I don't
want to go through every 9,000 cells. Another option I did was move
the column in so the 00:00:00 doesn't show, but I would be curious to
know if anyone knows of a solution.

Thanks!

There's a display format that only shows the date. Leastways, that's
how I have my column formatted.
