Any way to extract (or find on the hard drive) a powerpoint background to edit and get back in?

If you have the original image on your computer and you are using PowerPoint
XP, right-click on the background (it may be on the master slide) and select
SAVE BACKGROUND. If you are using PowerPoint 97 or 2000 there is no such
option.

You can use a screen capture program such as SnagIt to make a .jpg of the
background. Delete all content from slide, play slide so it is full screen
and capture the screen. This will give you a 72 dpi image of your
background.

I am using and to solve I erased all text etc., saved slide as a Tiff, edited it in Paintshop, deleted the
existing background, then set the new as the background. It seems it changed the shade some so I extracted and reloaded all slides
so they matched.

It seems so far, you have to use the same slide for all main body slides. I am probably wrong though.

Thanks Troy.

Yes, depending on the version of PPT. See the multiple masters page of
my site for more info. URL's in signature.
