"Edit with Microsoft Frontpage" opens temp file, not real one

S

Steve

A feature on my system recently "broke". Not sure why.

"Edit with Microsoft Frontpage" now opens a file like

file:///E:/DOCUME~1/steve/LOCALS~1/Temp/Temporary Internet
Files/Content.IE5/W9EJ81QR/default[1].htm

rather than the real file (either on a web server, sharepoint site, shared
drive, etc.)

I've wiped all temp internet files from IE. Any other thoughts?

This was posted by someone who had the same problem recently:

I think I answered my own question (as usual).

I changed the option in Control Panel - Internet Options - General tab -
Settings -

to

"Check for newer versions of the page" At Every Visit.

That seems to have done the trick.

Thanks anyway.

Thanks for the response but no go on the fix. Changing "Check for newer
versions of stored pages" to "Every visit to the page" doesn't change
anything. Frontpage is still opening a file tied to my IE Temp folder.

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm
and download FP cleaner.

Run the functions that clear the Cache(.web) files and the Temporary files.

See if that helps.

You might try FP Cleaner: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm
FP Cleaner finds and deletes the files that may be causing errors in FrontPage
when opening or closing your website or web pages.

Interesting. No luck there either though.

In addition to clearing your browser cache, have you tried rebooting?

Rebooting! I should have thought of that!

That did it.

Thanks,

Steve
