Editable regions of DWTs

N

novus

I have recently upgraded to FP2003 and dynamic web templates seem a good way
of managing the layout of groups of pages.

However, the editable regions appear to allow only plain text with no
formatting, hyperlinks etc. Is this the case, or can the content in these
regions be more flexible?

I am the sole editor and need to change such content regularly. In the past
(FP2000) I have made heavy use of include pages. If I can't do any serious
manipulation of the editable areas, is there a way I could use include pages
in that area?

You can still insert a Include Page into a DWT and it will appear on all
pages using the specific DWT

The editable regions can contain any valid html that will work in the block
- in a Body tag that's anything

Thanks - I've found that it appears that these areas have to be 'initialsed'
by placing a carriage return in them on the DWT page, otherwise they seem
only to accept a plain text paragraph.

Not so

The editable region will appear small (because all that is there is a "comment tag"), but if you put your cursor in it you can enter
anything (say Table Insert table)
- it really depends on what the container for the editable region is
(if it was say a <p> tag then all you could enter was text)

For some samples of DWT and guidelines see http://www.dwtig.com/

So what container should I use to allow me to enter a wide range of stuff -
graphice, tables, text etc? Did I miss something in the help files about how
to set up these regions? Thanks

Depends on your page/site layout
- you can have multiple ones or a single one
- can be limited to just a line of text or a whole page
- did you look at the link I posted previously
