Editing buttons in a website template

Need help -Can you give me step by step directions on how to edit the buttons
( change the text) in a downloaded web template. I have searched for an easy
to understand tutorial but could not find one. I use FP2002.

Which one would be the most user-friendly? and are there any free downloads?

It depends upon which you need and prefer the most. Of the 3 I
mentioned..all are pay (don't know if any have free trials currently or
not...visit their websites to find out) PhotoShop would be most expensive,
followed by Fireworks, and then Paintshop. There are many other programs
that would do it besides those 3 as well.

It was a template I downloaded from myfreetemplates.com

I wanted to try one out to see how it works and I get how to change graphic,
text but the changing of the buttons.. well, I thought it would be an
painless process. I found instructions that said go into navigation and then
change name from there but all I seen was the index page.

That's correct if the template is using fp's navigation.

View | Navigation and should see Home and your other pages, if you don't
see the other pages you need to add them there. If you don't have other
pages in your website you should create them (duh).

Right Click on Home and you'll see it from there.

Of course you should be working with your web site opened (not a loose
page).
