editing existing PUBs - makes massive files

hi folks.
i put out a weekly newsletter with Publisher 2002. the
thing is, that i just edit last weeks edition, but when i
insert pics etc - even after i take them out - the file
stays big - so i land up with a massive file (like 23Mb
for 4 mostly text pages).
is there a way to compress or something?
PS - i often copy pics and text from Word. i have even
tried compressing pics in Word before copying them over.

you're right, but its hard when its a few pages.
but it seems like thats the only way...

This is a bug that was not fixed. When you delete the picture file, the
file remains internally in the Publisher file.

You will have to update to Publisher 2003 to overcome that bug.

After managing to set up OE-QuoteFix on his new PC, Ed reads a message

Doesn't that also mean updating the OS to Windows XP? Seems a bit
spendy to lessen the file size.

Windows 2000 SP3 also supports Publisher 2003.
