Editing grouped items without messing up animations

I have several text and graphic objects group and animated. Now I have to
adjust the position of one of the text elements, however in order to do this
apparently I need to ungroup it which deletes the animation. Is it possible
to select and manipulate objects in a group without ungrouping? Otherwise
what's the best approach?
