Editing Music for a PP Presentation

Susan

I have a presentation in which I have embedded a song, but I would like the
song to start 3 stanzas in. Can I edit the song in Windows Media Player or
PP 2002? And how do I edit the song?

Thanks

You may want to look at PFCPro (two week free trial). It will allow you to
edit both video and audio files directly in PPT.

Cannot edit in either PowerPoint or WMP. You might try Audacity

Dear Susan,

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but you can set the Sound
animation effect to *Start playing from time* then enter the timing that
corresponds with three stanzas in.

Thank you for your reply. I did set the sound animation effect to 47
seconds, but it still starts at the beginning of the song. Is there
something else that needs to be set in order to start the music after 47
seconds? If it is possible (& it seems like it should be) to set the music
within PowerPoint to start at a specific time it would make everything so
much easier.

Did you try this:

This will only work for a file inserted as an animation -- no as a transition.

Select the sound icon on your slide. In the animation task pane, find your
sound/music effect. Select it then click on the down arrow to get the drop
down menu. Select Effect Option. Under the Effect Tab, choose Start Playing
from time: 00:47 seconds.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. I embedded the music, but I'm not sure if
it is an animation or a transition. How do I tell which it is? I'm not sure
what the difference is. Perhaps that is the problem since I can't get it to
work.

Did you Insert > Sound?

Or Slide Show > Slide Transition (or Animation > Transition Sound in 2007)?

I ripped the song in .wav format to my hard drive, then clicked on Tools,
Options, General tab & set "link sounds greater than" to 50,000 kb. Then in
PP I clicked on insert, movies & sounds, sounds from files & clicked on the
song I wanted. It's my understanding that this embeds the music instead of
linking it. However, it was after I did this that I set the Effect Option.
Under the Effect Tab, choose Start Playing
from time: 00:47 seconds.

Unfortunately, I can't link the music as I'm using this as a Christmas card &
want to send it to friends & relatives. I thought I could maybe edit the
music before I embedded it but it would be so much easier to set it to start
47 seconds into the music. Otherwise it starts too early & the music &
slides don't fit properly.
