Editing stored email in Inbox

Exact issue: I suspect that some of emails are modified in content by others
who had access to computer. I wanted to investigate further.

About Emails within Microsoft Outlook Express:
I have found that Microsoft Outlook Express 6 does not have any buttons to
edit email. However, you can export the eml file and edit them through
outside editor (such as notepad) and import back into outlook. This does not
show any change in property of Email- visible when clicking properties (sent/
received/ details and message source). Question is- Is there a way to find
out if email has been modified?

About Emails within Microsoft Outlook:
I have found that Microsoft Outlook allows editing any email stored on hard
disk by right clicking in email content and then clicking "edit email"
button. User can save then edited message.

I have also found that Outlook changes Last modified time to computer system
time when email is edited in above manner. However, If someone changes system
time to "received time" before clicking "save" button, it will remain the
same. Is there any other way to detect the email being changed?

If there is no way to detect this, Please let me know.

The outlooks don't totally
impress me and I have personal
issues with them.

However, f i'm not mistaken emails that are
altered are either in an edit mode for
sending or the changes can be saved
as an individual file. But if the original
message exists in the outlook, then
it is in an original state .

so you could compare the saved version
on the disk (file) with the one in the outlook
folder (msg).

If the msg no longer exists, then
you might be able to restore an
outlook datafile/backup and obtain
the original msg again.

It might be possible to compare
the date created to the date
modified of the file.

If you right
click in the file explorer colum
titles, you will get an array of
file specs.

If the file was created by you
on a certain date, then the
modified date would not be
any different if the file were not
modified.

I dont believe in pop configuration this is possible, it may be possible in
Exchange mode.
The modified date changes when a msg is moved or opened, not just edited
