Editing tasks in the datasheet/table format

I have been having problems in directly editing the fields in the
datasheet/table format/view. In order to make a change, I need to open the
task up. Do you have any suggestions on how this can be done in the table
view?

Right click the columns headers, choose Customize, Advanced Settings. Then
tick "Allow in cell editing".
