Editing Tasks with Project Server

How does one go about programatically editing task data in Project Server? I
have a utility that updates task actual dates in .mpp files that runs as as
add-in to Project 2002-2007 and I want to be able to update task data
directly in Project Server. Can this be done? Does Project Server change
resource assignment data in accordance with task data as does the regular
MSP interface?

Can you point me to any sample code for doing this sort of thing?
