"Edits will not be saved" warning in Project Server 2003 - need quick education on this

I keep getting this warning when I attempt to insert a custom
enterprise field (stoplight) into Tracking Gantt and other views.

"Edits will not be saved. Any edits made to enterprise global
template items are only available during this session. Make edits in
the check-out enterprise global template to make them available to all
users of the Project Server"

I guess I don't know as much as I thought I did about this. I thought
this message came up only when you were attempting to modify an
enterprise view you were using at the time. Either I'm wrong on that
one or I have no earthly idea how to distinguish between enterprise
and non-enterprise views in the View Bar. I guess I thought
"Enterprise Gantt" and other custom views you created were the only of
"enterprise" type.

Could someone give me a quick "primer" course on this one?

Thanks,

Anovak,

Ba careful : if you open and check out the Enterprise Global, any view that
you will display in the Eterprise Global will be considered as "protected"
on the server. So if you displayed the Gantt Chart in the Enterperise
Global, Project Server will prevent you from editin this view.
You will have to go back to the EG, with the admin permissions, and there,
in the Organizer, temove the Gantt Chart fro the EG.

Hope this helps,
