Often times I find files xls files on the internet that allow the viewer to
either "open" to view them immediately, or "save" them to your hard disc for
future use/viewing.
Well, other than all of the usual warnings related to viruses, I have
noticed that after opening an xls file from an online source, that it has
altered settings for my own Excel files. This happened the other day to me
and my own spreadsheets were sort of mangled up. For example, I noticed
that the "Show Status Bar" had been deselected... things like that.
Well, what causes this and what can be done, if anything, to keep an xls
file from altering one's own settings?
My thanks in advance for any ideas here. Brad
