Eliminating hard returns

Does anyone know how to eliminate hard returns in Word 2002? I am editing a book and the publisher wants all hard returns eliminated.

believe you want to eliminate all "hard returns" if by this you mean
paragraph breaks; that would make the entire book a single paragraph. I
suspect the publisher wants you to eliminate manual page breaks. This can
also be done with Find and Replace, searching for ^m and replacing with
nothing.
