email address auto-complete populated incorrect email details

I use Outlook 2000 SR1 (full product) in a stand alone mode on my laptop. I'm having a problem with the emails auto-complete function. Let me detail it:

Lets say I created new contact (not me) called Ron Gan. By mistake I typed an incorrect email address for this contact and then I tried to send this contact email. So I went to the new email, typed Ron in the "to" field, Outlook will automatically fill in the email details for Ron Gan. Now remember that the email was incorrect! I sent the email and it popped back. So I go back into my contact and correct the email. in the contact, address book, etc. The incorrect email address no longer available anywhere on the computer.

The Problem - From this time every time I'll go to send an email to Ron, Outlook will somehow remember the cached mistaken email address (even though I fixed it) and auto-populate the wrong email. Even if I'll totally delete the contact and create a new one, auto-complete still remember the incorrect version.

I cannot find where it is caching it or how to fix it. It drives me crazy since I used this feature heavilly.

Any help will be appreciated. Hope I provided enough info.

If you know how to deal with it, please email me directly

thanks

The next time you type the name in the To: field, manually resolve it (Check
Names button or CTRL-K) to the correct Contact before you tab out of the
field or hit the Send button.

I am another person with the same problem.
I tried CTRL-K and nothing seemed to happen. Hunting around in help I found
it seems to depend on whether you use Word or Oulook to send messages. I
normally use Word.

Help says:
ALT+K (with Word as e-mail editor)
CTRL+K (using the Outlook e-mail editor)
Check names

Does this remove all the old entries which seem to be remain some sort of
index even when the contact is changed or deleted?
I haven't fully tested yet, but I have also been plagued by long-dead
addresses popping up in the selection list, so I either have to remember
which is the latest or pick the address from Contacts.

If you manually resolve a name, that resolution will be remembered and used
from then on. You can clear the entire name cache if you wish. The method
depends on your Outlook version, which you did not post.

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:
