Email Address SPAM / Virus protection

I am trying to protect my email address to allow people to
email me but not machiness/Spambots.

I started by saving the address as a GIF and importing the
picture. This is not user freindly and doesn't work with
text browsers.

What is the best method?

If I use a form to allow users to send me their mail
address, what is the best method and where do I get the
code?

My ISP supports Frontpage, Perl, CGI and SQL. Most of the
time I only have access to ftp (no html upload because of
proxy). I am using FP2000 under 2000 SP4 and the webserver
is apache.
