Email addresses deleted after emails are "Undeliverable"

I have had email addresses deleted after sending emails that were returned
"Undeliverable." They are deleted from the auto complete AND in my Contacts.
I have looked everywhere for a setting that controls this with no luck. For
example, I sent an email with too many attachments to someone in address book
and whose address comes up automatically. I received a System:
Undeliverable message. When I went to resend a smaller file, the address was
missing from auto complete. When I went to find it in my Contacts - gone
from there too!

I've recently had an employee report this exact problem. Using Outloo
2007 on a Dell Vostro laptop with Vista Business. He has several time
sent an email with too large an attachment and the resultin
Undeliverable message has wiped the contact and the autocomplete inf
from Outlook. This is by no means a power user and it could be tha
there is more to the story, but I'd sure like to know what it is.
Unfortunately he works out of a remote office and it's hard for me t
get my hands on the system
