email and outlook express

I have Office 2000 and use outlook express for email - I
used to be able to send a document/spreadsheet... as an
attachement from within the applications - but can no
longer do this? Nothing new was added but the program was
looking for OUTLOOK (and the MS Exchange logon whxcih i
don't even have)
Any suggetions?
I'vealready uninstalled Outlook (first repaired, updated
all...etc) -
I'ved checked the tools/Options/programs (in Internet
Explorer) and the default email is Outlook Express
and checked for updates to IE...but still have this
problem....
Any ideas?
