Email Auto Reply

I am trying to get an auto reply set up and I looked thru
some of the Newsgroups and still not got it right.

I have set up an email that is only to function as an
information retrieval, one time auto responder if you
will. I am on Comcast and I know that there is an
autoresponder available but my email is too long to use
it. I leave my system on all of the time. That leads me to
another question if I do get this up and running right and
it is 2am and my system is sleeping will it auto respond?
I have it set to send and receive every few min. But, I
don't know if it does this in the background while
sleeping.

I have created the email, not using word, saved it as a
file name other than mail.oft and created a rule to
respond with this file template and move the email to
another folder. It does the move so I know that the rule
is running but it does not send anything.

I was using Outlook Express and "thought" that I was
upgrading to something that had MORE function. I'm not
computer illiterate but I am about to go back to express.
It was working then.

Help me if you can!
