Email being re-sent numerous times by Outlook (2002) ???

I'm not sure where the problem is, but I have an email
that goes to about 38 recipients and about 6 of them are
complaining that they are getting it (at least 5 or 6
times) multiple times. (They are at a couple different
companys.) I know this is true because the return
receipts keep coming back to me.

Does anyone know what causes this to happen? Is it an
Outlook problem or something on their end? The other
recipients don't seem to have any trouble and this is a
new problem (email has been a regular email for a couple
of years) over the last couple of weeks. Sigh...

I just spoke to my ISP tech support, who said that it may
be a problem between the antivirus software checking
emails on the way out, and not notifying the email program
that it has been sent out, so the email tries to send it
again. She suggested that I update the AV program and/or
turn off scanning of outgoing email.
I am still looking for the answer on this forum, so I
can't say if that is the correct answer or not.
