Email Client Defaults to Exchange

I have a client who is using Outlook 2002 on a SBS2003
network. They chose not to use Exchange at this time, so
they get their email from their ISP's POP3 server. The
default setting in Outlook (on SBS2003 networks) is
Exchange. I added the POP3 account and moved it to the
top of the list and made it the default. That works fine
for a few days then Exchange moves to the default for
some reason. I reset the POP3 to default and it is fine
for a few more days, then Exchange again moves to
default. Once that happens, any outgoing email is delayed
for many hours.

Any ideas on why this happens and how to prevent it?

I had the same problem. Apparently Exchange sets itself to the be default
in SBS 2003 environments. But for some weird reason not all clients are
afflicted with this issue (strange, no?)

Here's what I got from an MVP on another NG here. I couldn't see the
result, but it seemed to work for me.

********************************************
To stop Outlook flipping to Exchange as default for e'Mail
change the following registry key:

HKLM\Software\\Microsoft\\SmallBusinessServer\
ClientSetup\NoTransportOrder

Make it a dword, and set it to 1

If you've done it right, you should see this information in the log
file: "DoOutlookTransportOrder() - skipping because NoTransportOrder was
set."

Note:
Standard warning about backing up the registry before you begin and
knowing how to restore it in the event of any issues/disasters applies.

Hi, I have seen your post and I have the same problem but the solution you
have posted appears to relate to the server and this setting needs to be set
before Outlook is installed on the Workstations/clients. Do you have any idea
what setting in the workstation relates to this change? The reason I ask is
because I have the same problem but I do not want to have to re-install
Outlook on all hte workstations after making the change in the Server's
Registry, i would prefer to change the Workstations registeries instead.

Thanks
