Email editor

Has anyone else noticed a compatibility problem between
Outlook 2003 and word 2002? We are on the verge of
upgrading about 50 workstations to Outlook 2003 but have
found that on the test PC the Spell checker does have all
the options and funstions it currently has with Outlook
2002. After poking around a bit I noticed that the use
Microsoft Word for your email editor is not a selectable
option (greyed out). I cannot find anything in the
Microsoft knowledgebase and only found one other newsgroup
on the web that had complaints about this same issue and
the effects it has on the spell check. No solutions though.

Okay pardon my ignorance but has this always been the
case? In the past we have always done a complete Office
Upgrade instead of just Outlook but we are in the process
of several other costly major upgrades and are trying to
avoid the extra cost of a full Office upgrade. If
upgrading Word as well is the only option then I guess
we'll have to rethink the plan.
Does anyone know if there are workarounds or solutions
other than upgrading Word (which would probably predicate
upgrading Excel and Powerpoint and Acces and...)?!

No. Outlook 2000 would work with Word 97 or 2000 as the mail editor. After
that, though, it's been true.

Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy (contrary to popular
belief!) You wouldn't happen to know a work around? I've
seen some third party spell checkers but if were going to
spend the money on that and possibly run into issues there
why not just get the appropriate licensing from Microsoft?
You knew it was coming it just sucks now that it's here!

To the best of my knowledge, there is none.
