email from Office 2007 not working, Windows Mail installed, Vista

I have a new HP laptop with Windows Vista. I use Windows Mail with
everything set up. I have Office 2007 Home. The email button in Word is
grayed out. It is there in Excel but nothing happens when I click it. Why
can't I email from these programs? Is there some setting I need to input?

Let me amend that PowerPoint works! I don't understand.
