EMAIL LIMIT

Is there a limit with regard to the number of email messages in Outlook as
to when it will start to choke or slow down the program? Most of the emails
in either the In box, Deleted items or Sent items are like very simple
messages with just a sentence or two or paragraph or two. I probably have
somewhere between 2000 and 2500 total. I know I probably need to get in and
clean things up. My pst file is about 542,000,000 in size. Any help or
direction here would be appreciated.

Current versions of Outlook allow 20GB of message data. Each folder can
hold at least 64K items.
