email merge

Is there any way of sending an e-mail to several people (say 100) and
personalizing it so it starts out Dear X where X is different and
personalized for each e-mail?

Yes, it's called mail merge and uses Word. If the data is in Outlook, start from the contacts folder and use the Tools | Mail Merge command.

Hi Sue!----It's been a couple of years since you posted this and I don't know
if you're still around....BUT....I tried this yesterday and it worked
GREAT....I got the Wizard (which I usually hate....but in OL it worked pretty
well) and the merge went fairly smoothly. (And I think we just stayed right
in OL without going out into Word)

HOWEVER....I tried to duplicate it and now it won't work. Now when I hit
Mail Merge I get the regular box I always get for merging to labels, etc. I
tried doing it to a Document Type Form Letter and Merge to: Email....this
takes me out to Word and and I put in my form fields fine and merge to new
doc and my fields are great....but there's no way to populate the email To
field automatically. I'm trying to help one of our reps and he wants send
the same letter to a bunch of people, only personalized.....I KNOW I saw it
work yesterday...WHAT am I doing wrong....and WHERE'd my Wizard go??? Thanks
for ANY light you can shed on this. THANKS for all you do!

Never Mind!!! Yeaaaaa......I figured it out-----and without that pesky
Wizard!!! I did the merge the regular way, telling it to merge to email
(instead of New Document)---then when it took me out to Word and the document
was all ready to go....i just went up to Merge to Email!!! That was the step
I was missing! Have a Super Day!
