Email notification problems

Hello all,

I have recurring problem whereby emails are still being sent out to
resources even though their tasks are 100% complete. I've checked work,
actual work, remaining work and all seem to be correct (all remaining work is
0). I also tried republishing, etc. Nonetheless, resources are still getting
the emails, which state that they have remaining work. Anybody have any ideas
why this would happen?

Marcus:

This is usually the result of tasks being deleted from the project plan
before their related assignments are closed out. You essentially have orphan
records in the database. The quickest cleanup is to save the project as an
mpp file, delete the plan from Project Server without deleting the
SharePoint site, reimport the plan to the server and republish. This should
clear out the orphans.

I'm actually working with MS on this. It seems to be a design flaw at least
in my case.

What I have is a task that the remaining work = 0, but no actual work was
performed either because it was below our 15min threshold or they did not do
the work at all. As a result of no actuals being reported and only remaining
work being updated to 0, the software sees the task as incomplete as %work
complete is not 100%. I'm being told this is by design and that to avoid
this, I either change our tracking method from actual hours per day to %
complete, or change from effort driven scheduling.

I personally see this as a design flaw in the logic they are using to
generate these notifications and hope that either in the next service pack,
hot fix, or release this is addressed.
