Email reports from 2010

B

Bill Stanton

New to Windows 7 and Access 2010.

I get a nonsensical diagnostic when I attempt to
email a report as a pdf file. My sense is that
perhaps my email client is unknown to Access?

I do get the format option list, but as soon as I
click OK to send as a pdf I get:

Microsoft Access can't send this message.
Before attempting to send an e-mail message from Microsoft Access, resolve
the problem identified in the previous message, or configure your computer
to send and receive e-mail messages.

There wasn't any "previous message" and I already have Live Mail as my
e-mail client, so there's not much here to go on.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

I have not tried Live Mail before. That said, another option you may
wish to consider is the FMS Total Access Emailer. Total Access
Emailer does not require an email client to be installed on the local
machine. Instead it uses a direct connection to an SMTP mail server.
Support for attaching PDF file attachments is one of the many features
of this product. Total Access Emailer works as as Access addin.

There is a free trial version of this product available at the
following URL:
http://www.fmsinc.com/MicrosoftAccess/Email/free-trial.html

Total Access Emailer supports Access 97 and higher.

John,
The FMS TAE looks interesting. There isn't any cost estimates
cited at their website. Do you know how much they're asking
for their standard and professional versions?
