Email sending error

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I am trying to send a mass email but each time i try, I get the error message:

Recipient address rejected - Relay access denied.

I have checked the addresses and they are correct so am a bit confused.

Can anyone help?

Are you trying to send through an SMTP server other than the one from
your ISP?? Some server reject these attempts.
