Emailing problems

Hi
I have been trying to send an Access file to two of my friends, via email,
but unfortunately neither of them can open it, the problem seems to be with
the mdb file extension, which keeps attaching itself to the file, despite me
re-naming the file. I have saved it in Access 2003 as the recipients dont
have 2007.
Can anyone throw some any light on how I get around this problem as you must
be able to send the file via mail surely?
thanks in anticipation!

access files made with 2002-2003 cannot be open by access 2000 of
sooner either an access 2002-2003 can open a access 2007 file. you
need convert it in good version

Before sending the database file, use a utility like WinZip which will (1)
make the file smaller, and (2) put a zip extension on it.

The issue is most likely Outlook trying to protect Microsoft from itself. It
won't let certain file extensions, such as .mdb, to come in with the email as
an attachment.

It could also be that the file is just too large.

Also there might be some file blocking in the email system especially if
it's a company computer system. Some of them won't even allow .zip files so I
usually rename the file extension .piz and warn the recepient to change the
file extension back.

Thanks for the replies thus far. Will try zipping it up and see what happens.
Thanks again.
