Emails are printing using color ink cartridge

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

When I print my emails from entourage my printer is using the color cartridge to create black rather than just using the black cartridge. I would love to stop burning through my color cartridges. Any suggestions?

Things that I have tried unsuccessfully . . .

After selecting Print---Under Paper/Type/Quality- Paper I have already selected Gray Scale and then under Color- I selected Black Cartridge only-- but my printer is continuing to use the color cartridge.

This sounds like a printer problem and not Entourage.
