emails deleted

As I go through my inbox, reading emails and closing them,
they just get deleted permanently. Anyone run across this?

You might have a Rules Wizard setup to delete after you
read them.
Click on tools then Rules Wizard to see if you may have a
rule setup.

Make sure that your view isn't set to "unread messages".
