Emails disappear from Inbox

I am a brand new mac user after years on a PC. All but one of my emails just disappeared from my inbox and they are not in any folder. Are they accessible from a different view? I can't find them again in my IMAP account. Can I use time machine to get them back? They even disappeared from my new iphone; I could see them on my iphone and when it updated, they disappeared. Frustrating! I verified the database (as suggested in one of the other posts) but everything checked out. I read other related questions & answers but because I'm so new to this platform, I don't know what to do next.

First, DON'T use Time Machine to backup Entourage on an hourly basis.

See the first two articles here:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/articles/backup_articles.html>

It's possible you have View "unread" or "flagged only" selected under View
in the Menu bar.

It's possible that a sync with your iPhone wiped out the messages. Do you
have any limits on size of your account? What about schedules to delete mail
older than xx days?

If you view your account in your web browser, can you find the messages?

Cheers and Welcome to Mac! I have a few tips and links posted to help new
users here:
