emails don't show the replies in the reading pane!!!

in outlook 2007, When somebody sends me a reply to an email, the reply
doesn't show in the reading pane or anywhere else. The reply shows on the
mail server. Is it a setting problem?
It did worked before and I don't think I changed any setting.

Also reccommend you don't use pane as it can open something nasty before you
can check it......It happened to me once long ago and I dont use pane
anymore.
