Emails should have a read by date

My partner has just returned to work from holiday to find hundreds of emails
in her work inbox. Most of these were now out of date but she had to read
them all to find out which! Wouldn't it be useful for every email sent to
have an expiry date so that Outlook could then automatically move them to an
'expired' folder.

If the email didnt have a read by date attached then the user could set a
fixed time for emails to be moved.

Outlook already supports an expiration date for mail items. Check in the
Options dialog when composing a new mail item

Thanks for that. However how many people use it? Maybe there needs to be a
default setting of say 2 weeks that has to be positively changed. What
happens to the expired emails if they are unread?

(I'm a user, not an MVP) I think a default setting would be burdensome to
those who DON'T want their emails to expire. Maybe an option would be to
make the Expiry Date more visible rather than hidden in the Options dialog.
