Emails Stuck in Outbox

When I click send on an email the note stays in the
Outbox until I click on the Outbox or some other folder.

Also, emails do not appear in my Inbox until I click on
some other folder.

This happens at the office or home. I have a constant
connection at both locations.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this?
