Emails to open very slowly in Outlook '07?

Can this be sped up and if so how. Previous versions were not this slow. I
often get "not responding" message, but it eventually opens. Thanks

Run Diagnostics?
You are using a unicode data file, if pst?
You've run scanpst.exe?
If you upgraded, from what?
Any AV intergrated with OL?
Any addins?
