Bummer.

Care to share some meaningful details, such as Outlook version, whether you
have any POP3/IMAP or other accounts installed? When you used "test account
settings" for the other accounts, what error message(s) did you receive?

Thank you for responding. Outlook version 11; no other mail accounts
installed; Norton anti-virus packaged w/ HP Pavilion ze4900 uninstalled. Can
communicate w/ wife's identical computer using hotmail, but can't with her
internet-based yahoo account. I've been on the phone while a business client
was sending through his internet based email program, but I couldn't receive
it, although he receives my hotmail messages. I added another hotmail
account. The send/receive progress report shows either error 0x8404DFF2 or
0x800CCCF0, depending on what mood it's in, I suppose. Those errors aren't
listed on the outlook help website. I scrolled through 56 of 544 pages of
postings, without finding anything pertinent, except the uninstall Norton's
from Jeff, and the ambiguous suggestion that no more free hotmail accounts
were being recognised. With my old WIN98SE/archaic PC, I was getting emails
flawlessly. Now, with all this newfangled stuff...I get nothing. THAT'S a
bummer.

I added that second email account to hotmail. Got an error saying
{..."Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers reported error(0x800CCCF0) Service
currently not available. Try again later. The server responded "Service
unavailable."} My brackets.

New Hotmail free accounts are no longer able to be synched with Outlook
20032/2003. You must use a paid subscription. The same goes for Yahoo
mail - they will only allow their premium paid service in Outlook. See
their pages (Yahoo!Mail) for the help files to set it up if you do have a
paid account. There have also been reports that the free accounts that used
to be synched with Outlook are failing.

Thanks again. Went to MSN website, paid the lousy 20 bucks. How and when will
I know if it's working. Looks exactly the same so far....still can't add a
new hotmail account. Returns error 0x800CCCF0 "Server responds; service
unavailable". How do I get, and what do I do with the "Outlook Connector"
it's said I need? Like being charged an exorbitant amount for new tires, then
being told I need to pay for the air to make 'em round.
