embedded images not shown

When I receive HTML messages, the images do not appear.
I only get tages with a red 'x'. Is it possible to view
these messages with all images shown? I am transitioning
from Outlook Express where I never had any problems.
Also, is there any way to how image attachments (jpg,
bmp, etc) is your sent messages like in Outlook Express?
