Embedded objects not showing in doc but can be printed

I have a client with a problem where he can't see the
embedded object, be it a chart or table, in his word
document, but if he prints the page it prints out okay.
The documents are fine on all other pc's, just his won't
show. Is there some setting that has to be adjusted for
this to work. It isn't that the object isn't embedded
correctly for they work on different machines that don't
have the original chart etc.

Any clues as to why and what can be done?

For what it's worth I have seen this occur when the incorrect video
drivers are installed on the PC. (they were correct manufacturer, but
wrong model)
