Embedded Sub Reports In 2007

I've created many reports in 2003 with embedded subreports but now I'm
working in 2007 and my subreports keep overlapping each other in print
preview. I've placed them very far apart in my main report and played with
the sizing of them. They are all set to Grow and Shrink and the detail
fields in each subreport are set to Grow and Shrink as well.
I've saved backwards and opened the database in Access 2003 and the report
works fine there. I need it to work in 2007! HELP!

How are the subforms arranged? Are they one after another, vertically on the
page? Or are they side by side? I ran into a problem when doing
side-by-side, and ended up embedding these two side-by-side subreports in
another "wrapper" subreport. This wrapper seemed to take care of the problem
I was having.

The subreports are layed horizontal across the page of the main report from
margin to margin and then down the page vertically one after another. In
Access 2003 I was able to build subreport after subreport vertically down the
page of the main report and make them as skinny as possible and they would
populate with detail records and move on to the next subreport and so forth.
Now in 2007 even though each subreport is definitely not touching one another
on the main report page and I've even placed them with big gaps in between
each of them, the detail records of one subreport will populate right on top
of the following subreport detail records, almost like one of the subreports
has had a frame put around with the option for the other subreport records to
flow around it. Anyone else had this problem?

Now that you mention it. I did have the same problem on a report I
developed that had about 8 subforms, all arranged vertically on the report,
one right after the other.

What I ended up doing was creating a bunch of Groups (set the
field/expression to numeric values, =1, =2, ... =n). and set them up with
group headers. I then placed each subform in a new group header. Seemed
like a rather cumbersome workaround, but it works. The challenge is that I
think you are limited to 8 or 10 groupings, so if you have more than that,
you might have to use the group footers as well.
