Embedding Mp3 music into pp presentation

Is it possible to embed Mp3 music into a pp presentation? If no what is the
technical reason that prevents this?

The only files you can embed into PowerPoint are WAV files. all others are linked. this is just the way Microsoft built the program.

It is possible to trick PowerPoint into embedding mp3 files but this may not
be without problems eg It will not play on a Mac and possibly not with early
versions of windows. Worth a try though.
