Embedding PNG Files in body of e-mail

Greetings!

I'm sending an e-mail message from a PC platform (Outlook 2007) with a PNG file inserted/embedded (not attached) into the mail message. The recipient, a MAC user with Entourage 2004 does received the embedded image in the body of the message, however he also receives the file as an attachment. The attachment when opened displayed the PNG file, but highly pixelated and not near the resolution and clarity of the embedded image. How does this occur and what can be done to correct the display/printing of the attached PNG file.
