Are there any free downloadable emoticons that are not adware and/or spyware
infested. Please provide links.

BTW, how do emoticons work, especially the animated type? Do they use some
kind of activeX or ? What about the static ones, are they just bitmaps?

They're usually animated GIF files. No ActiveX required.

Yes, or JPEGs or GIFs.

I wouldn't refrain from using them extensively, however. By including
non-text in your messages, you greatly increase the size of the data that
requires transmission while increasing by little or not at all the
information you send.

I'm not having problems finding them, as you say there are tons, but they
all seam to include adware/spyware as far as I can tell like hotbar, ncase,
etc. I am looking for sites/links that are known to be adware/spyware free.
