empowered to accept or reject employee’s updates, owner, PWA

Hi all
We are using a project pro 2007 Server
I have a project plan that contains a work of 2 teams.
Each employee, reports about his progress via PWA.
Is it possible that another person (Not the project manager- the owner of
the project) will be empowered to accept or reject employee’s updates?
We do not want to use master project in this specific case
Best regards

Each task can have a different status manager who is responsible for
accepting updates. Each status manager needs PM rights on the project.

(to change status manager, add the column status manager to your plan in
proj pro)

This was useful to read as this is the type of thing we are trying to
accomplish right now with project professional 2003. I suspect that status
manager is new to 2007. Does anyone know how to assign someone (or more than
one person), other than the project owner as the person(s) to accept updates
for specific tasks?
