enable drop down boxes in a protected form

Trying to create a form that allows drop down boxes to function and also
allow editing to some portions of the document. Have already set up the
areas where other users may edit as well as setting up the drop boxes, but
once I protect the document using the padlock on the forms toolbar I am
unable to edit the selected authorized areas and vice versa if I select
protect document the drop down boxes are not working

Hi,

there are two ways to do this: one is to use a form field and the other is
to use sections.

If you want the text to be inline you will need to use a form field. This is
very limited as to what the user can do but the designer can put a lot of
constraint on the user. Using the forms toolbar insert a text field and set
up its properties if necessary by right clicking on it.

If you want large areas of free text then sections are best. Insert a
section break at the start and end of the free text area. When you are ready
to lock the document select Tools > Protect document then select the forms
button then sections chech the the section numbers you want protected and put
in a password if you want one.
