Hi All,
I'm running Win2000. When I had Office 2000 running on this system, I had
a language button in my SysTray that allowed me to type in German or English
as I chose. After I upgraded to Office 2003 and used that button for the
first time, the button disappeared and I got a "Language Bar" containing
that button and miscellaneous other stuff.
The good news is:
1. Using Start | Control Panel | Text Services, I was able to defeat the
display of the Language Bar.
2. Text services allows me to use Left-Alt plus Shift to switch between
languages.
The bad news is:
1. I have no visible indication of the language state, though I can simply
type any affected key.
2. I simply like having the language button in the tray.
Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] advised "You need to open the Language Bar and
go to the settings option and turn off the language bar and enable the
system tray icon." The first half of that statement was correct. The
second half wasn't. I replied to her post announcing that there was no
mechanism to enable the system tray icon, but she hasn't responded to that.
Perhaps she's on vacation.
Does anyone else know how to enable the system tray icon?
TIA,
Richard
