Enabling macros?

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I recently switched from a Dell to a Mac on which I have Excel 2008 and am having problems with some Excel documents in regards to enabling macros.

I have a few documents for which I need to have macros enabled in order to properly use, but when I open these documents I get a pop-up message that says 'This file contains Visual Basic macros - Visual Basic Macros do not work in Office 2008 for Macs'. What am I supposed to do? When I use the document some formulas don't properly work.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

VBA type Macros don't work in 2008 VBA doesn't exist for Office2008.
after many earsful from Colleges Universities, student and Professors
alike. VBA is guaranteed to make a return in the next version.

So Melanie, for the immediate future you are as they say "SOL". Those
workbooks just won't work in Excel 2008. To use al the features, you'll have
to use Excel 2004.

Or if you have one of the new Intel Mac's buy parallels, But windows XP
or Vista, and Office 2007.

Then you can have the bets and worst of both worlds.

VBA is not present in macOffice2008, therefore VBA macros won't work; but in
some cases, it could be helpful to use AppleScript scripts.
